New Essay, "Take, Eat," in Apogee Journal

October 14, 2015 in Essay, publication

CHICAGO | October 14, 2015 -- Hello, readers. Today my essay, "Take, Eat," went live on Perigee. It's a meditative essay set in the moment where news began to spread around Ferguson and the non-prosecution of the officer who shot Michael Brown. In that moment, the speaker considers his own body, and how the moment in social media and television leads to new questions around the nature of race.

"Take, Eat" is the first published in a series of essays I've been working on over the past year. Like many of my fellow black millennials, I have a lot of questions about the contemporary moment. These essays query the maelstrom, from terrorism to technology to race, and meditate on how these interconnected matrices affect how we think about our bodies.

I'm excited to share this work with you. You can find "Take, Eat" here. As always, thank you for your readership, and please be on the lookout for more work in this series in the near future.
